    Website Rules

All rules that are listed on this thread are to be read carefully and will apply to all ranks in our community. These rules apply to our website, its forums and every other service that we provide.

All users are required to read these rules and ensure that they are followed by both themselves and others in the community, these rules should also be followed by admins where applicable, failure to follow these rules could end in a mute or ban and any staff caught breaking the rules could be removed from the MC256 team. Please note that these rules are subject to change so make sure to check this thread every now and then for updates.

If you are banned or muted on our website and you use an alternate account your ban/ mute will be extended or made indefinite depending on the reason for your ban/ mute.

If you witness anyone breaking the rules including the staff please report them in the relevant forum, if you have evidence it makes it much easier for us as admins to ensure the user is punished accordingly. Users who report others for the purpose of trying to get others banned will receive punishment themselves if discovered.

Note: All rules found on the Server Rules section still apply on our website.

    General Posting Guidelines

We figured this was necessary because in the past a lot of people come in and post threads without thinking, and without realising that there is no possible way they could get help because of the way they posted the question. Here are some general guidelines for you when you plan to post on the site or create a thread.

    - Please Use the Search

There is a pretty good chance that unless you have some really odd or unique problem that it has been addressed on our forum before, please use the forum’s search feature first to see if there are already some good threads on the subject. It’s easy to search – just enter your question or topic in the “Search” bar at the top right of the page and see what is available. The same goes for when you want to create a thread, just make sure its not already out there.

    - Be Descriptive and Don’t use Stupid Topic Names

Post a descriptive topic name! Give a short summary of your thread in the subject. Don’t use attention getting subjects. They don’t get attention and only annoy people, that means no excessive caps, no excessive punctuation and no fake subjects, the subject should represent what the thread is about. Not something completely off topic.

    Here’s a list of subjects you shouldn't post :

"Help me, Hello, Very urgent, I have a question"

"I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!! HELP!!!!!!"

"You will NEVER guess what just happened!"

Generally anything similar to the above is unacceptable. Just post what your thread is about or what your problem is, we will still read it. However if it doesn't have a subject that tells us what its about we will have no reason to open it as we will just see it as spam.

Here is a good example of a way to post a question or thread:

"Unable to connect to server, error code 109940"

"How do i use commands in the server?"

    "Shenanigans on MC256 Volume 2"

    - Be Grateful of when People Help you, They are Doing you a Favour

When you post a thread that you require help with or a reply to such a thread, be patient, you can help people help you by posting good descriptions of what you need help with and providing good information if you are replying to a thread that someone needs help in. Don't snap at people if their answer doesn't help you, they are trying and by arguing with them they may not want to help you resolve your issue.

    Forum Rules

    - No Spam or Advertising

Here at MC256 we define spam as unsolicited advertisement for goods, services and/or other websites/ servers, or posts with little, or completely unrelated content. Do not spam the forums with links to your site or product, or try to self-promote your website, business or forums etc.

Spamming also includes sending private messages to a large number of different users. If you are caught doing any of the above your post will be removed and you could be temp banned from our forums or website.

    - Don't ask for any Personal Information

Users personal information should be kept personal and not displayed on a website forum, please do not ask for/ request or demand another users personal information in the forums or via a private message. On the flip side do not share your personal information with others, even to our staff, we will never request your personal information, if anyone asks for your personal information please let a member of our Administration team know about it and provide evidence.

If you are caught asking for personal information through the forums or any other chat we will warn you and then further punishments will follow if you continue to do so. Personal information is very dangerous when in the wrong hands and should be kept safe with its rightful owner.

    - Do not Post Copyright-Infringing Material

Providing or asking for information on how to illegally obtain copyrighted materials is forbidden. Posting links to such downloads will result in an immediate ban from our site and server and the post will be removed. Uploading any copyrighted material to any chat on this site will also be punished in the same way.

    - Do not Post “Offensive” Posts, Links or Images

Any material which constitutes defamation, harassment, or abuse is strictly prohibited. Material that is sexually or otherwise obscene, racist, or otherwise overly discriminatory is not permitted on these forums, chat rooms or in the private chats. This includes user pictures and signatures. Use common sense while posting. Here at MC256 we want to provide a friendly environment for all ages and posting things such as these will ruin that environment.

    - Do Not Cross Post Questions

Please refrain from posting the same question in several forums. There is normally one forum which is most suitable in which to post your question. By posting your question or thread in multiple forums you may cause confusion and be accused of spam, and your posts will likely be deleted.

    - Do not PM Non-Staff Users Asking for Help

Do not send private messages to any users asking for help. If you need help, make a new thread in the appropriate forum then the whole community can help and benefit. If you have a private question for one of the staff members it is okay to PM them but individual users may be unable to give a correct answer and cause confusion further down the line.

    - Remain Respectful of Other Users at All Times

All posts should be respectful to other users and not be created in the aim to offend someone else. You have every right to disagree with your fellow community users and explain your perspective. However, you are not free to attack, degrade, insult, or otherwise belittle them or the quality of this community. It does not matter what title or power you hold in these forums, you are expected to follow this rule.

MC256 Rules are subject to change at any time, you are responsible for keeping up to date with them.
MC256 Administration has the right to add, remove or modify any and all items on the list of rules and regulations. Thank you for reading the rules and following them.
