Server Rules All rules that are listed on this thread are to be read carefully and will apply to all ranks in our community. These rules are not limited to the server, they are universal and apply to our Website, Forums, Discord and any other service we may provide in the future. All users are required to read these rules and ensure that they are followed by both themselves and others in the community, these rules should also be followed by admins where applicable, failure to follow these rules could end in a kick or ban and any staff caught breaking the rules could be removed from the our team with immediate effect. Please note that these rules are subject to change so make sure to check this thread every now and then for updates. If you are banned or muted on our server and you use an alternate account your ban/ mute will be extended or made indefinite depending on the reason for your ban/ mute. If you witness anyone breaking the rules (including our staff) please report them in the relevant forum, if you have evidence it can make it much easier for us as admins to ensure the user is punished accordingly. Users who report others with the aim of getting others banned when they have not broken the rules will be punished themselves and could be banned from the server. Do not Spam Spam of any type is not permitted in any of our chats, Forums, or on our Discord. Spam can be anything from the posting of same or similar messages a repetitive number of times within the space of a few or more seconds to posting multiple threads with the same topic. Messages comprising of all or a large amount of caps is also considered spam. Spam on the Forums is not acceptable, spamming posts or threads in any Forum will either get you suspended or banned from the forums indefinitely. Respect Staff Members Any decisions made by our team are final, they will not change their minds once they have made their decision. Please do not argue with our staff because of their judgement. If you do feel like a staff member has made a bad decision or has been abusive of his/ her powers please report them in the 'report a player' forum, do not argue in the chat or forums with them. Any threads or comments that are created in the aim to bully staff or be mean to them will be removed and the creators will be punished for this, if you do not agree with a staff member please speak to them privately and sort out the situation calmly. Do not Impersonate Staff or Other Users Impersonation is something we do not take lightly in our community. If you see someone impersonating a Staff Member, a YouTuber or another user, please contact a Moderator as soon as possible, if no moderators are currently online take a screenshot or video and report the player in the forums. Pretending to be someone else can be confusing for others and lead them to think that you can help them when you actually cant. If you are not sure about who you are talking to keep an eye out for staff prefixes: Helpers will have the green [trainee] prefix, Moderators will have the light green [mod] prefix, Administrators will have the red [admin] prefix. Account Security and Sharing When you are using our server, you are responsible for the security of your passwords for both your MC256 and Minecraft website accounts. If another user gains access to your account by any means, you are still responsible for your account and anything that may happen whilst it is in possession of any other user, this means that if a user breaks a rule on your account that account will still be the one punished for breaking the rule alongside any other account we believe is also under your ownership at the time that you could use to evade your punishment. Please make sure that your passwords are secure and that you never give them out to anyone, not even to our Staff. Don't Advertise Advertising any other servers on MC256 servers or forums will result in a ban from the server and/or the forums. This includes sharing an IP or website/domain in any public chat or messaging system. It is also not allowed to use things such as the name tags to name pets in game as an IP or website or signs in game. This rule will also extend to indirect advertising. What this means is that you may not ask players in the chat to go and play on another server with you, things such as 'Does anyone want to play Build Battle on Hipixel' will not be allowed, however if you are trying to ask an individual player to join you on another server you are allowed to use the /msg feature to ask them directly. Advertising your Clan name, inviting, or publicly offering any player to join your Clan will be allowed in server chat. But if you spam it or annoy other players it will result in a mute so please, if a staff member asks you to stop, listen to them. All Clan-related promotions, offers, announcements, etc, should be done on the ‘Clans’ board on the forums to avoid complaints. Buying and Selling Accounts If you choose to buy a Minecraft account from someone else whether they use MC256 or not, please note that if you find it is banned from the MC256 server when you join, we will not unban it. If the account had a history of breaking the rules on our server or website before it came into your possession, the punishment will stick with that account. To protect the users in our community, we also will not allow the sale of Minecraft accounts or MC256 accounts on our Server or Forums. This is because many scammers use this to get money from people. Not allowing these sales is the best way to keep scammers from exploiting our users for their money. Inappropriate Language, Content and behaviour Please be mindful of others when speaking in chat, we do have younger players playing on our servers with you. Swearing is not allowed. This also includes the naming of pets and signs in game. Profane or offensive pet names will not be tolerated. Use of Profane Language on the forums will cause the effected post/thread to either be edited to something cleaner, or for the entire post to be deleted. Inappropriate behaviour is strictly forbidden on our server and website. This means that if you give other users death threats or abuse other users on our server or website you will likely receive a permanent ban or temporary ban depending on the severity of what was said. This server was created as a fun place for people to play and get together with friends, people should not be scared to play on this server with other users. This also includes posting links to inappropriate content (e.g. adult content). As mentioned before, we do have young players on the server, and they should not be exposed to this type of content. Giveaways Any giveaway that gives an item that is bought from our donation store or any other store for that matter must be approved by either Excalibur or Niknaiz. If your giveaway requires approval, you can obtain this by contacting either Excalibur or Niknaiz via the websites messaging system, but please remember that this could take some time. You are not allowed to give others Minecraft accounts or a MC256 account in a giveway. Optifine capes are also forbidden from being sold or given away as selling capes are directly against Minecrafts EULA and we do not support users who attempt to go against this. We also do not currently allow the giveaway of physical items or personal information due to privacy concerns surrounding the sharing of personal information, including real names and addresses. Physical items can also cause problems as if anything other than what is promised is given away people can get upset and complain. If you find someone doing a giveaway of something which requires approval without a screenshot of an approval message from either Excalibur or Niknaiz, don't participate and report them to a moderator by using the report button below the thread please. Offensive Skins Skins that are offensive or of a sexual nature are not permitted on MC256 servers. Anyone using a skin that falls under these category's will be warned at first sight and prompted to change their skin, if the skin is not changed within 24 hours, further punishment may follow. Offensive Capes Capes that are offensive or of a sexual nature are not permitted on our servers. Capes are an extension of your skin, inappropriate capes will be treated the same as inappropriate skins. Everyone using a cape of this kind will be warned first and prompted to change it, if you do not change or remove the cape then further action will be taken. Offensive Usernames Usernames that could be considered offensive or that contain sexual content are forbidden. If you don't follow that rule you will be permanently banned from the server. Please don't forget that our server contains people of many ages and ethnicity's, we do not accept users that think they can make fun of or offend any other users. Companion Punishment Users that are found to have a friend or group in wild realms that are cheating or using a hacked client will be receive a strike, once a user has received three strikes they could be banned from the server too. This is because when users are found to be cheating or using hacked clients their friends and/ or group is willingly or unwillingly at an advantage over other users and groups playing in wild realms and this is not fair to go unpunished. Users that report companions within their group for hacking or cheating within will be spared the strike and go unpunished, if a moderator or admin finds out first that someone is cheating or hacking within your group the strike will still apply regardless of whether the other users of the group are oblivious or not. (Wild Realms is MC256's take on player vs environment survival, in Wild Realms PVP and stealing is allowed however griefing of any bases, large amounts of land or any other form of griefing is a punishable offence) Griefing Griefing is strictly not allowed on the MC256 servers. Griefing is able to ruin a players fun on our network and it can even lead to players permanently leaving our network due to losing all of their progress in game. If anyone is found to be griefing another players base or buildings they will be subject to punishment by staff, this does include unclaimed bases, just because the base has not been claimed it does not mean that somebody does not live there. If you have been griefed the area will be rolled back to its previous state, please request the help of a staff member if this has happened to you. Discord Rules All rules listed in this thread are still enforced in the Discord server. These extra rules are specifically for Discord due to its use of VOIP, please read through them carefully and ensure that you do not break any of these rules when using our Discord server... - Playing Loud Music or Sound files is forbidden in the main lobby and group lobbys. - Using a voice changer is not allowed in any channel. - Nicknames that can be considered offensive or inappropriate are not allowed. - Recording others voices on Discord without their agreement or staff agreement is considered forbidden in all events. In some countries/states it is considered illegal to record voice without the user’s permission and we will not take accountability for your actions. - Tags in usernames such as [mvp] are not permitted. - Trolling, Screaming, or acting childish will not be tolerated. - Switching Channels continuously is considered spam, don’t do it. - Do not annoy or bother the staff members too much, if they don't reply to you instantly it probably means they are busy! Failure to follow our Discord Rules will result in a kick or ban from our Discord server. Your actions on Discord can also result into a ban on the MC256 website and server. Client Modifications The use of Minecraft client modifications on any MC256 server is closely monitored. While some types of modifications are allowed, please keep in mind that you are responsible for all activity on your account even if you are unaware that a modification is interfering in any way. All Blacklisted modifications are not allowed. Anything which gives a significant advantage to players in-game is a blacklisted modification. Also, modifications which alter the way that your client sends information to the server are strictly disallowed, even if they fall into an allowed category. Some of the allowed modifications are: - Client performance improvement modifications. - Aesthetic modifications. - Armor and status effect hud modifications. - Brightness and gamma adjustment modifications. Any modification that does not fall under these categories is not allowed. This does include Macros. If you are unsure whether or not a modification you use is allowed on the server please inbox one of our admins, they will be able to help you out. Cheating and Exploitation Any form of cheating or exploitation on our servers will result in a temporary or permanent ban! some forms of cheating and exploitation are listed below: - Using a Hacked Client which gives an unfair advantage against other players. - Using any of the disallowed modifications found in the Client Modifications section. - Exploiting any kind of Bug or Glitch in our Server or Website. If any bugs or glitches are discovered please let us know in the relevant bugs and glitches forum. Note that this does not limit itself to only cheating or exploiting. No form of in game fraud is allowed, If found committing in game fraud you could be subject to the same rules as a cheater or exploiter. Buildings and Statues Much like the rest of the server all things that you build or place must be appropriate, meaning that it should not be offensive, discriminatory or generally inappropriate in any other ways. This includes buildings, signs, chat, etc. If we discover that something that you have built falls under this category we will remove it from the server regardless of how big it is or how much time it took you to build it. Depending on the content it displays you may also receive further punishment. To note, while we also allow most forms of role play in your groups. We do however not allow husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend roleplay as it can lead to more inappropriate types of roleplay. Rules for Non-Staff Members In every server that I have been a part of there are quite a few of problems with people getting annoyed or aggravated when being told what to do by a non-staff member, If you would like to help someone please apply to join our team, we do love having new faces helping around the server however if this is not for you then please leave the helping to our staff members. Here are our guidelines to prevent confusion for non staff members of a helpful nature. You can answer other users questions, there is nothing wrong with that. However, don't answer questions if you are unsure how to answer them, or its not directed at you. It’s okay to answer questions such as “how do i use this" or "how do i put on my cosmetic items” or even “how do i access the hub” etc, basically any information that can be spotted on signs around lobbies. Answering questions on how to donate to the server or buy VIP/ upgrade to VIP+ or even where to report players or bugs to our team is acceptable, but once again if you are unsure please remember to not give an answer in that case. There is nothing worse than giving out the wrong information as it just causes problems at a later date. You cannot be rude to any other person even if they're being rude to you, treat people with respect, you don’t know what the situation is at the other end. On top of this you can’t be giving out orders regarding the rules, for example “STOP USING CAPS” there should be a staff member online, a helper is a staff member even if their role is to help they're still staff and have commands to control these situations. If a staff member in your lobby isn’t responding to a question or isn't dealing with the rule breaker, and its now been a little while (around 30 seconds) of a user spamming an IP or breaking a rule, try messaging a member of staff on our website and they will sort it out. You can impress us by helping when a staff member appears to be AFK by answering the smaller general questions or reporting rule breakers on the forums. If a staff member asks you to ease it up just a little don't be offended its for all the best reasons, just be polite about it and let our staff do their job. Causing commotion or an argument with a staff member will put you on their bad books, lowering your chances of becoming a member of staff. The staff team is very close and if you annoy one others will likely hear about it, the same goes for impressing one of us. Someone who isn't liked by other staff members won't get accepted through to our team as it will cause tension in our team which we can't have among staff. It’s not fun for the staff when they have players running around yelling at them for doing their job, we are volunteers and we are here to help and moderate that is what we have been chosen for. All we ask is that you don’t take the fun away for us but instead start to help us. Avatars Website Avatars follow the rest of our sites and servers rules but just incase you are unsure about what is not allowed read the list below to ensure you are not infringing any of our rules: - Avatars must not encourage violence, racism, or any misconduct. - Avatars or Selfies you find on the Internet are not allowed to be uploaded as your avatar (this includes celebrities). Meaning you cannot impersonate other people on here by posting a fake photo of “yourself”. - Avatars must not contain any nudity or sexual reference, meaning no fake anime girl or real photos that fall under the category of sexual content. - Avatars must not contain any reference to drugs or alcohol, we do not want to advertise any product that might be offensive or inappropriate on the MC256 Website. Signatures Signatures cannot have any links in them that contain viruses, harmful content or with the aim of phishing from users. You are however allowed to advertise your social media pages, as long as it follows our servers rules and other guidelines. Any signatures with animated images (.gif) or videos that contain flashing lights are not allowed, as these can cause seizures and can be harmful to other users. Non flashy animated images are allowed. Signatures that contain videos should be wrapped in spoiler tags. Videos must be appropriate for all audiences and follow our server and website rules and guidelines regardless of whether or not it is in a spoiler. Please remember that every user that has signatures enabled can see yours. This means to use the space wisely knowing that it will not be only you who sees it. Having too many animations or wasting space with a list will annoy others. Use your signature to let people know who you are, or to share social media with them. Many people love to show off achievements too. Attacking a person or featuring a user in your signature should only be done with their permission. We don't want signature wars on our website (unless its in an off-topic forum within a relevant thread). MC256 Rules are subject to change at any time, you are responsible for keeping up to date with them. MC256 Administration has the right to add, remove or modify any and all items on the list of rules and regulations. By using any of our services, you agree to statements made above and below.
